Career

Sarath was born in 1957, in village called Inginiyagala, near the city of Ampara in the Eastern province of Sri Lanka .His professional career started in 1998, after more than 20 years of practicing yoga and meditation. Sarath honed his yoga skills under the guidance Swami Jyothy Mayanandan, as well as developing his meditation techniques with the Sri Lankan guru, Jayasuiya. Sarath is a follower of the Hatha yoga system as taught by sage Maharishi Pathanjali, although he has developed his own distinctive style and methods over the course of his career.
As Sarath came into his teenage years he became interested in Karate and trained for 10 years, earning the black belt. Yet, Karate took its toll physically and Sarath  started on his lifelong journey with yoga and meditation.

Work

Before and alongside his professional career, Sarath has always been involved with volunteer work, teaching yoga and meditation in his local community temples and churches.  Sarath has taught yoga and meditation to private clients in Sri lanka . He has also taught at the Hilton Hotel, The Ayurveda Pavilions, Kudo Daido juku martial art school and at the Kuruvira prison. Sarath is a veteran of retreats, and has been the main Yoga teacher at various retreats for German, Danish and japanes retreats  in Sri Lanka for over 15 years.
